Basics on the WebInterface
Usually the subscribers will subscribe to a newsletter, check out from a newsletter, or change data by using the “WebInterface”. This is an interface between BACKCLICK, your website, and your subscribers, one that is completely based on templates. The templates for subscribing site and check-out site will look different. Therefore BACKCLICK offers samples (templates) that have been created and are provided in deleivery status. BACKCLICK does not limit the number of templates, but lets you provide more than one of these layouts in the course of only one BACKCLICK installation.
BACKCLICK therefore uses the standards that are currently available to guarantee genuine permission e-mail marketing. The “double-opt-in” or “confirmed-opt-in” procedure handles confirmation of every subscription. Each new subscriber will receive an e-mail with a special link to activate the data. All the information
He or she provided previously is only used after activation by the subscriber. With this function, BACKCLICK prevents those who have changed their minds about subscribing from being saved in your database. The same procedure will run during check-out. After your new subscriber has signed on successfully, you may send them your most recent newsletter as a “Welcome” newsletter. This can include personalization, such as their name, address, and other information.
Fordata privacy, every subscriber profile may be protected by a password. There are two options for subscriber security: First, the subscriber will be asked to enter a personal password. If you do not want the user to define the password for him or herself, BACKCLICK will generate a password of optional length while the subscription is processed.
The WebInterface includes many other functions. For example, your subscribers may send recommendations to their friends (also known as “viral marketing” or “send2friend”). This will let you add many more subscribers.
BACKCLICK templates are samples written in HTML where BACKCLICK-specific tags are included. You decide on the layout of the subscription and checkout masks and the content of error messages, because you create the templates.
How to create a template will be described in the next chapter.
To simplify programming a template, you will find several examples of templates in the delivery status. These templates will be shown under “System-Administration (Main Menu) -> WebInterface-Templates” (submenu). The following overview will be displayed:
