Connection to external databases 

BACKCLICK lets you use external SQL databases as a source for both global and temporary eRobinson lists. To establish these data connections, you choose (Main Menu) “eRobinson Administration” -> (submenu) “eRobinson external DB.” There you will see an An overview of the active or inactive data connections, in the form of a table.

In the delivery state, there are no connections to any external databases. But here you may establish a new connection by clicking on the -button.

Enter the following details for a MySQL data source (database type) to get a connection: 

• Database name: The name of the data connection in BACKCLICK, which will be displayed in the overview, is not the real DB name.
• Database Host: Host name or IP-address of the MySQL Server
• Port: Port where the MySQL Server carries out a listing — default is 3306
• User name: User name for access to the MySQL Database
• Password: Password for access to the MySQL Database
• Database: Name of the MySQL Database
• Table source: Name of the table where the e-mail addresses are stored
• Column name “e-mail”: Name of the attribute of the table described above — the e-mail addresses are stored here
• Global list: Here you will define whether this data connection will automatically refer to all sendings of the system. Every newsletter of all BACKCLICK mailing lists is then compared to this table first. If this check box is not activated, you should manually initiate a check of the existing e-mail addresses before every sending.
• Internal eRobinson list: When this check box is activated, all entries of the external Robinson database will be written into the BACKCLICK internal eRobinson database. PLEASE NOTE: This function completely removes subscribers from this system. If this is not what you wanted, do NOT mark the check box here.

Testing the connection 

After you have filled in all the details, you can test the connection to the data source. Clicking on the -button will 

display the information about the connection set-up in a separate window.

• Connection set-up = OK: Connection to the database host/port could be built up
• Rights on database = OK: User name /Password
• Status of table: Here you may check whether the indicated table is available, and whether or not the values are readable. This also checks to see if the country name or the attribute do exist.
• Status of configuration: If all of the tests have been successful, “OK” will be displayed here.

Close the window only by using the -button. You will then be returned to the input mask. 

Store the connection 

To establish this connection, you must now store the configuration. By clicking on the -button, you will get an 

overview of the established data-banking connections.

Overview of the data connections 

In the data connections overview, you may edit ()and remove () a connection. The status of the connection is shown in real time at every call of the overview. If a data connection is no longer available, the status will be set on “DOWN.” This notification will be displayed in red in the column. You will need to check the connection by editing and testing it again. 

A new connection to an external database can be created by clicking on the -button. This button will return you to the Main Menu, “eRobinson Administration.”
